Mojca Erdmann to debut at Madrid’s Teatro Real in ‘Don Giovanni’

This April Mojca Erdmann will make her debut at Madrid’s Teatro Real, bringing her signature portrayal of Zerlina to a new production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni at the esteemed Spanish house. Mojca is joined by an international roster of singers that sees Canadian baritone Russell Braun in the title role, American tenor Paul Groves as Don Ottavio, German soprano Christine Schafer as Donna Anna, American bass-baritone Kyle Ketelsen as Leporello, and Spanish soprano Ainhoa Arteta as Donna Elvira. The Argentinean conductor Alejo Pérez leads the ensemble in a production by director Dmitri Tcherniakov, with performances running from April 3 to 24.

Mojca Erdmann’s performances in Don Giovanni at the Teatro Real continue her commitment to Mozart’s music. In 2011 the German soprano released Mozart’s Garden on Deutsche Grammophon, an album of arias by Mozart and his contemporaries. Discover it here. Mojca’s portrayal of Susanna in the Metropolitan Opera’s production of Le nozze di Figaro earned her great acclaim from the New York Times, which hailed her for bringing “a sweet, beguiling voice and a demure sincerity to Susanna.”
