Mojca Makes Israeli Debut in Jerusalem

Marking her first performances in Israel, Mojca Erdmann appears in two concerts this week as part of the Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival. On September 3, the German soprano performs Aribert Reimann’s Ollea, a work for unaccompanied soprano that she premiered in 2006. The four songs contained in the cycle are virtuosic showpieces for soprano, and Mojca’s 2009 recording of the work was praised by AllMusic.com, which noted that her “pitch is absolutely secure, her tone celestially pure, and her technique dazzling.”

In the same program, Mojca joins the festival’s artistic director, Elena Bashkirova, for lieder by Richard Strauss. The following afternoon once again sees Mojca paired with Bashkirova for Schumann’s Lieder, Op. 90.
