Mojca Erdmann stars in Miroslav Srnka’s South Pole, opening January 31


The Bayerische Staatsoper presents the world premiere of Miroslav Srnka’s South Pole, which chronicles the competing Antarctic expeditions of Robert Falcon Scott and Roald Amundsen. Mojca Erdmann performs the role of Landlady, the love interest of Amundsen, sung by Thomas Hampson. Kirill Petrenko conducts the new production, which also features Rolando Villazón as Scott and Tara Erraught as Kathleen Scott.

South Pole premieres on January 31 and will be broadcast on ARTE in Germany at 10:40 p.m. CET and at 11:15 p.m. CET in France. The production will also be webcast in France. Visit Arte.com for broadcast details.
