Mojca Erdmann returns to Bayerische Staatsoper for Srnka’s South Pole

On July 5, Mojca Erdmann resumes the role of Landlady in Miroslav Srnka’s South Pole. The German soprano originated the role at the Bayerische Staatsoper in January 2016.

Srnka’s work follows the expeditions of competing explorers Robert Falcon Scott and Roald Amundsen, and is conducted by Kirill Petrenko. The production features Thomas Hampson as Amundsen, Rolando Villazón as Scott, and Tara Erraught as Kathleen Scott.

While the July 5 performance is sold-out, audiences can experience Srnka’s new work when Mojca returns to the stage for three performances of South Pole in January 2017.
